Fast power relays HR8A-400V are designed for use in all types of DC and AC circuits. They combine the best features of traditional electromechanical relays – minimal contact resistance, and modern semiconductor elements – high speed of operation.
Short switch-on time, below 0.3 ms and the ability to disconnect inductive circuits with L/R=40ms and current up to 8A/220V DC predispose them to use especially in circuits controlling power system switches.
Currently, HR8A-400V-3z-1p relays are manufactured in the basic version and in the G (Galvanic) type version. They are designed to switch, via a single contact, currents up to 8A AC/DC and voltages up to 400VAC or 500VDC. The standard version’s own switch-on time, Tz < 0.3 ms.
The “G” type version is characterized by:
The switch-on time can be extended, on request, (additional time and amplitude filtration) to one of the following values: 1 ms, 5 ms, 10 ms or 15 ms, for the basic version, or 5 ms, 10 ms and 15 ms for the G version. This feature is particularly useful when using relays in circuits with high interference of control signals (rugged circuits). The switch-off time is typically 15 ms.
The output contacts of HR/SHR relays can be connected in any way, also with other types of relays. In the case of a series connection, the operating voltage and maximum switching power increase with the number of contacts connected in series. Parallel connection provides an almost n-fold increase in current intensity and switched power. By connecting, for example, two contacts of the HR8A-400V relay in parallel, a switched current of up to 10A DC (L/R=40 ms) can be obtained at 360 cycles/h. Each hybrid contact is made of a semiconductor key and an electromechanical relay normally open contact and is twice as reliable as traditional, reed or pure solid state relays.
